Expert Witness

An expert witness is a person whose specialized knowledge, training, skill, education, or experience may help explain a technical or specialized issue in a legal dispute. Unlike an ordinary fact witness, an expert may be asked to give opinions within the area of expertise, and a deposition may be used to examine the facts, assumptions, methods, and reasoning behind those opinions.
