Steven Stralser is Professor Emeritus at Thunderbird School of Global Management, and previously, was a member of the faculty at The University of Arizona where he taught Marketing and Entrepreneurship and awarded “Faculty of the Year” for teaching excellence in the U of A’s nationally-ranked Berger Entrepreneurship Program and received the Bobcat Senior Honorary Faculty Award.
In addition to academic credentials, Dr. Stralser been an entrepreneur and has held high-level marketing and consulting positions in business, industry and non-profit organizations, most recently as past-President and Charter Member of TiE-AZ, (www.tieaz.org) (The Indus Entrepreneurs) recognized as the leading globally-focused organization that advances entrepreneurship internationally, nationally and locally. Dr. Stralser served as a member of the Chairman’s Quality Committee of BannerHealth (formerly Samaritan) Health Systems, the largest healthcare provider in Arizona. Dr. Stralser served on the Board of Surgical Specialty Hospital of Arizona, and serves as a Board member for Flexxcoach, (www.flexxcoach.com) an e-learning company focused on sports coaching education and player development. In 2007 Dr. Stralser joined the Board of Directors of Salt River Devco, the commercial real estate development arm of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
During Fall 1999, he was a Fulbright Senior Scholar, teaching marketing management in the MBA program at The Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Entrepreneurship at The University of Miskolc. Dr. Stralser spent a semester teaching Entrepreneurship in the MBA program at the Czech Management Centre in the Czech Republic and has conducted MBA seminars in London, Paris, and Brussels. He has presented seminars and MBA courses to students from 80 different countries, bringing together commonalities in entrepreneurship to a diverse array of cultural, political and economic settings.
Dr. Stralser is the Founder of The Center for Professional Development, Inc. a think tank and developer of training and executive education programs targeted to professionals, e.g., physicians, attorneys, architects, dentists, and non profit executives who are well trained in their professions, but who often face challenges with the “business” issues facing their practices and organizations.
Through The Center, Dr. Stralser has developed and presented the innovative “MBA in a DAY®” seminar series that brings current, leading edge concepts and principles being taught in today’s top-tier graduate schools of business to highly-trained professionals in an intense, “boot-camp” delivery format.
MBA in a DAY has been presented to diverse audiences, such as The Chicago Medical Society, The Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, The American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, Michigan State Medical Society, The Annual Meeting of the Mensa Society, Maricopa County Bar Association, Association of Fundraising Professionals, The Institute of Real Estate Management, American Express Financial Services, Non Profit Management Solutions and The Volunteer Center of Orange County.
Dr. Stralser’s book MBA in a DAY: What you would learn at top-tier business schools—if only you had the time achieved published by John Wiley & Sons has achieved best-seller status and has been translated into seven languages. Via a grant a major pharmaceutical company, he authored a series of monographs for healthcare professionals, “The Patient as Customer”, “Physician’s Use of the Web: Rx for Patient Satisfaction and Practice Efficiency” and “Patient Education for Patient Satisfaction and the Improvement of Healthcare Outcomes”. Dr. Stralser has served as a mentor/reviewer for commercialization plans for SBIR/STTR grantees with NSF funding.
Steven Stralser received a Ph.D. from The University of Michigan where he taught Marketing and Marketing Strategy. He holds a BS in Marketing from The University of Arizona and an MBA from Arizona State University.
