Ron Glass is a nationally recognized crisis manager Chapter 11 Trustee Chief Restructuring Officer and Bankruptcy Advisor. Since founding GlassRatner in 2001 with Ian Ratner Ron has led hundreds of large and complex matters in various industries including various sectors within the real estate industry where he is a recognized industry expert. Over the past 30 years he has worked in almost all aspects of the real estate industry from lending to single family construction hotel management multi-family and commercial real estate. Over the last couple years Ron has been ranked quarterly as one of the country’s top crisis managers and financial advisors by the Bankruptcy Insider and The Deal Magazine.
Ron frequently serves as Chief Restructuring Officer or Responsible Party; two of his more dynamic assignments in this area include: acting as CRO for a top-ranked property management company with projects in dozens of markets across the United States. In addition in early 2007 as the condo market in Florida was softening he was appointed Chief Restructuring Officer for one of the largest condominium conversion companies in South Florida. When Ron was appointed to the role of CRO the company controlled 26 properties throughout the State of Florida many under construction. Each of the properties were operated and liquidated in an orderly manner over the following months. Ron is active as a chapter 11 trustee chapter 7 trustee and Plan Administrator in matters in the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts including high-profile bankruptcies including: Southwest Recreational Industries (the Astroturf Company) and American Athletic and Sport Court Inc.
Over the past few years Ron has led many of the firm’s significant restructuring assignments on behalf of both lenders and borrower/developers. Through these efforts Mr. Glass has been the lead advisor on billions of dollars of mortgage loan workouts. Ron is a skilled and knowledgeable leader with the ability to find common ground and work towards solutions that are truly in the best interest of all parties.
From 1981 until 1998 Ron held positions as COO and/or Executive Vice President of numerous entities controlled by Sam Zell one of the most successful turnaround and deal makers in the country.
As part of the executive group he was privy to the structuring of several complex investments including the formation of the Zell/Merrill Opportunity Funds which raised more than $1.5 billion of equity for the acquisition of office buildings and apartments valued at over $6 billion and the formation of the Zell/Chilmark Partners which made investment in operating companies including Revco Drugs Jacor Communications Carter Hawley Hale Stores (The Broadway Stores) and Midway Airlines.
Ron attended the University of Tennessee from 1964 until 1965 before transferring to Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1965 where he received a Bachelors of Business Administration with a major in real estate in 1969. Ron is well- known on the national scene and is a regular speaker and panelist at TMA ABI and various distressed real estate and investing forums.
