Named as one of the leading bankruptcy/restructuring attorneys by Chambers USA, Richard (“Rick”) M. Meth focuses his practice at Fox Rothschild LLP on creditor’s rights, workouts, reorganizations and insolvency-related issues. He is based in the firm’s Roseland, New Jersey office.
Rick appears regularly before the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the District of New Jersey, the Southern District of New York and the District of Delaware. His clients include local, national and multinational corporations; commercial banks and institutional lenders in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan region; and official and unofficial committees. He has also been appointed as both an examiner and special Chapter 11 trustee by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, and has served as a mediator in connection with the Circuit City bankruptcy cases for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
In addition, Rick is a frequent lecturer, speaking throughout the United States on bankruptcy-related topics, including ethics, bankruptcy sales, real estate workouts and bankruptcy/environmental matters, fraudulent transfer and lender liability issues, and director and officer liability. Rick has also served on various professional committees and governing bodies, including the Board of Directors of the American Bankruptcy Institute (“ABI”) and the ABI’s National Ethics Taskforce; as co-chair of the American Bar Association’s (“ABA”) Abuses of Bankruptcy Processes Subcommittee; and as the ABA’s Business Bankruptcy Committee Liaison with the ABI. He also serves on the Local Rules Revision Committee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section.
Rick has been named a “Super Lawyer” in 2005 – 2009, 2011 – 2013 as a leading bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney in New Jersey, and also in the New York area. His community activities include the Anti-Defamation League (“ADL”), for which he served as New Jersey State Chair from 1996-1999. He is currently an Associate National Commissioner of the ADL and a member of the Executive Committee of the New Jersey Region. Rick received his B.A. magna cum laude from Tufts University and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
