Jon Theobald is a Senior Manager in Forensic Services at Crowe Horwath LLP.
Jon specializes in the area of fraud investigation services and forensic accounting. With over 15 years of professional experience, he has led numerous investigations involving fraudulent financial reporting, asset misappropriation and corruption. This includes engagements across a variety of industries dealing with intentionally misstated financial statements, theft of organizational assets by employees of all levels, commercial and consumer loan fraud, “pay to play” and bid-rigging schemes, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), sources and uses of funds analysis, manipulation of loss reserves and contract compliance. Jon has also been deposed as a fact witness in civil litigation relative to a forensic investigation he managed.
Jon is an experienced forensic interviewer and has performed fraud risk assessments and the analysis of financial reporting processes and controls. His expertise with fraud investigation has also allowed him to partner closely with external audit reporting teams to identify key areas of risk within their audits and to recommend procedures to be performed to mitigate such risks. Jon has also prepared and analyzed lost profit calculations, and provided financial and consulting assistance to clients in multiple industries, including municipal governments and other publicly-funded entities, not-for-profit organizations, financial institutions, restaurants/franchises, health care service providers and manufacturing entities.
In addition to forensic services, Jon understands the external and internal reporting needs of public companies, having served as Vice President within the financial reporting and monthly consolidation team of a global financial services company. He also has experience as an external audit team member and has prepared individual federal and state tax filings.
