Gary R. Waitzman is a founding principal of the Law Offices of Gary R. Waitzman, LLC and Gary R. Waitzman Strategies in Lincolnshire, Illinois. His practice focuses on estate planning, asset protection, financial strategies, Medicaid planning, philanthropy, business representation, and legacy planning. He is licensed both in Illinois and Wisconsin.
Gary is a life-long resident of the Chicago area. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1973. He earned his CPA license in 1975 and his J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1979.
Mr. Waitzman spent 10 years at a regional public accounting firm and 19 years as a managing partner of a 40 attorney law firm which has enabled him to specialize in legal, accounting and administration needs of his clients. He co-founded his first law firm in 1983.
Mr. Waitzman has spoken at and conducted numerous seminars on estate and tax planning as well as presenting continuing education classes for Financial Advisors and Insurance Agents. He is the former president and director of the Village of Wheeling Chamber of Commerce and currently he is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), Northwest Suburban Estate Planning Council (NWSEPC), Wealth Counsel (a National Network of Estate Planning Attorney’s), American Association of Attorney – Certified Public Accountants (AAA-CPA), Illinois State Bar Association, The American Bar Association, The Northwest Suburban Bar Association, Illinois State Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Gary lives in Riverwoods, IL with his wife Katie, Buster, the wonder dog, and Cubby, a second dog member of his family. He is close with his children and six grandchildren: Alyssa, Brayden, Jase, Kayla, Carly, and Morgan.
