Barry Kaltenbach, a senior principal in Miller Canfield’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group, has spent the past twenty-five years handling commercial disputes nationwide while striving to keep clients out of court. His practice covers a broad range of civil matters, including advising financial services and investment advisory clients on non-compete, non-solicit, and trade secret restrictions, litigating disputes across the country, and handling FINRA arbitrations. He also represents clients seeking expungement of CRD occurrences, defends against professional misconduct claims, and assists financial institutions with workouts, commercial loan enforcements, and foreclosures. With extensive insurance industry knowledge, Barry counsels clients on coverage rights under various policies and represents insurers in reinsurance disputes, including ARIAS-U.S. and private arbitration. When insurance falls short, he litigates claims against large producers for coverage failures. While most lawsuits settle, Barry has taken multiple cases to trial in state and federal courts, regularly handles temporary restraining orders and injunctions, and has mediated and arbitrated numerous disputes.
