« Back to All Faculty

Billy Ray Valentine is the pseudonym of one of the Financial Poise in-house authors. The name is an homage to a movie character. William Raymond “Billy Ray” Valentine is from the 1983 film Trading Places. He was a poor con artist, a resident of the streets of Philadelphia. When Ralph and Mortimer use him to prove nature vs nurture, he becomes a wealthy businessman. Billy, played by Eddie Murphy, said, “It occurs to me that the best way you hurt rich people is by turning them into poor people.”
