Speaking Objection

A speaking objection is an objection that does more than briefly state its legal basis and instead adds commentary that may influence, signal, or suggest how the witness should answer. Because deposition objections are generally expected to be concise, speaking objections can draw criticism when they interrupt questioning or function as indirect witness coaching.
