Attorney-Client Privilege

  • September 22, 2026

The attorney-client privilege is a protection that can prevent certain private communications between a lawyer and a client from being compelled or disclosed when the communication concerns legal guidance the client is requesting from, or receiving from, the lawyer. In a deposition, the privilege may justify withholding the substance of a protected communication, but it ordinarily does not shield the underlying business facts simply because those facts were discussed with counsel.
