About Sateesh Nori

Sateesh Nori is a lawyer, law professor, and author dedicated to advancing justice through innovation. He is the Chief Legal Futurist at LawDroid and a Senior Research Fellow on AI and Access to Justice at NYU School of Law’s Center on Civil Justice.

For two decades, Sateesh represented tenants across New York City as a housing rights attorney and managing attorney at The Legal Aid Society and Legal Services of New York City. He also co-created and co-taught the Housing Rights Clinic at NYU School of Law.

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and NYU School of Law, Sateesh is a member of the ABA Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, serves on the Board of the New York County Lawyers Association, and serves on the Legal Services Corporation’s Leadership Council. He also served as a commissioner of the 2019 NYC Charter Revision Commission.
His achievements and advocacy have been recognized widely—he has been named a “Rising Star” by the New York Law Journal, one of Queens’ Power 50, and a “Legal Rebel” by the ABA Journal. He is also a recipient of the New York City Bar Association’s Legal Services Award and the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System’s “Rebuilding Justice Award.”

Sateesh is the author of Sheltered: Twenty Years in Housing Court and The Augmented Lawyer: AI and the Future of Legal Practice. AI and Legal Ethics is forthcoming in 2027. In 2024, he delivered a TEDx Talk,“How a Chatbot Can Stop Homelessness.”
