Effective legal representation of innovators and inventors requires analysis and application of intellectual property, contract, and professional responsibility law.. Care must be taken to properly initiate communications, prepare contracts, and handle subsequent legal disputes in compliance with governing law, including federal intellectual property statutes, state contract law, and applicable rules of professional conduct. This webinar discusses recurring legal issues that arise in the course of representing innovators and inventors, with emphasis on the application of specific legal frameworks, including U.S. patent law (35 U.S.C. §§ 101–256), trade secret law (Defend Trade Secrets Act and Uniform Trade Secrets Act), copyright law (17 U.S.C.), and state contract doctrines. . It also includes analysis of practical scenarios demonstrating how attorneys apply these legal frameworks in drafting agreements, advising clients, and resolving disputes.

About the NEEC-TBA

The National Educational Event Calendar for Trusted Business Advisors (“NEEC-TBA”) is a cooperative effort of its members. Other not-for-profit associations whose members include accountants, attorneys, business brokers, financial advisors, financial planners, investment bankers, and other trusted advisors to businesses and business owners are welcome to submit their events to the NEEC-TBA by clicking the “submit an event” button. The vision of the NEEC-TBA is to provide a single location on the internet so that: (a) professional associations with overlapping membership and event attendees may use it to help them plan and promote their events; and (b) members of these organizations and other potential event attendees can go to a single calendar to review many options at once.
