About Jared J. Perez

I am an attorney, arbitrator, and court-appointed fiduciary. I concentrate my practice on business litigation with a focus on financial services and securities matters, including securities fraud litigation, SEC and FINRA investigations, shareholder derivative litigation, and federal equity receiverships. As an attorney, I have represented receivers appointed by state and federal courts at the request of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Federal Trade Commission, Florida Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of the Florida Attorney General. On July 11, 2024, at the request of the Federal Trade Commission, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida appointed me as receiver over Start Connecting LLC based in Sarasota, Florida, and Start Connecting SAS based in Cali, Colombia — both doing business as USA Student Debt Relief. In that capacity, I am recovering funds for the ultimate benefit of thousands of defrauded consumers, who are primarily low-income student loan borrowers.
