Ernest Getto is a Managing Director of Burford Capital.

Formerly a partner at Latham & Watkins, where he served as Global Chair of the Litigation Department, Mr. Getto has more than 40 years of corporate litigation experience, representing a diverse group of major corporate clients, including Georgia-Pacific, PG&E, IBM, Mobil, HBO, Siemens, Newmont Mining, and the Directors Guild of America.

Mr. Getto is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and has served as Program Chair and member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, Co-Chair of the Federal Procedure Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, and as Deputy General Counsel of the Independent Commission on the Los Angeles Police Department. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education programs and is a widely published author of litigation-related works. He also serves as general counsel to the United States Golf Association.Mr. Getto is a graduate of the Vanderbilt University Law School and Cornell University.
