
Michael is a compliance program leader at Vantive, a global healthcare company focused on vital organ therapies, particularly kidney care. He currently heads a team of attorneys and compliance professionals covering compliance program governance, investigations, third-party risk, trade compliance, data analytics and monitoring, and AI adoption.
In 2024 through 2025, Michael led the development and implementation of Vantive’s Ethics & Compliance program ahead of its spin-off from Baxter International, with responsibility over Vantive’s compliance policies, processes, and systems spanning operations in 100+ countries. Prior to that, he was the head of Global Investigations at Baxter, where he conducted or oversaw hundreds of compliance and other investigations in 60+ countries.
Before going in-house, Michael practiced at Miller & Chevalier in Washington, DC, handling and advising clients on internal investigations and other compliance matters. Aided by his Russian and Spanish fluency and cross-cultural expertise, he focused on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), corporate corruption and fraud, economic sanctions, export controls, and money laundering risks around the globe. Notably, he served on an Independent Compliance Monitor team for a multinational corporation under an SEC/DOJ FCPA settlement and represented clients before the SEC, DOJ, and other regulators. Michael previously served as a law clerk to Judge Surrick of the U.S. District Court for E.D. Pennsylvania and practiced as a litigator at two Am Law 100 firms. In addition to his law degree, Michael has a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and an undergraduate engineering degree, and worked as a consultant at Deloitte before entering the legal profession.
