Daniel is currently the ASA – Director at Crowe Horwath. Daniel specializes in the valuation of closely-held firms and the valuation of illiquid and liquid financial securities – debt, equity, convertibles, options and complex derivatives; intangible assets and intellectual property for financial reporting, transaction, tax, and litigation purposes. He has provided valuation services across many industries, including financial institutions for the valuation of loans, loan portfolios, investment portfolios and core intangibles.
He has published extensively in the finance field in the areas of valuation, cost of capital, risk measurement, IPOs, M&A, restricted stocks, venture capital, executive compensation, performance measurement, and family businesses. In addition, he has received awards for his research. His work on the performance and the characteristics of Family Controlled firms is well known and cited in the media. Daniel has critiqued others’ valuations across a broad range of industries and types of intangible assets. He has valued restricted stock and other impaired securities and has performed numerous discount studies for tax, estate and other litigation matters. He previously worked for the sister firms of Phillips and Fractor, LLC and Findlay, Phillips and Associates, both well known for providing balanced and original economics, valuation and statistics litigation support.
