Tom Marlow is Director, Patents & IP Protection at Fairchild Semiconductor, where he has worked since 2008. He is responsible for managing the company’s global IP strategy. This work includes the handling of intellectual property from all angles, from promoting and capitalizing on innovation within the company, to trade secret and patent portfolio management. Strategic and competitive analysis, as well as general IP portfolio evaluation are also key responsibilities which assist prosecution and business development decisions.
Previously, Tom was a private practice Patent Attorney at Schwegman, Lundberg and Woessner in Minneapolis. Tom’s practice focused on the electronic arts including semiconductors, integrated circuit design and fabrication, wireless communications, and computer networks. While at SLW he worked with companies and inventors to write and prosecute patent applications, and had intimate involvement with the development of patent and portfolio analysis tools and programs.
Tom received his a B.S. in Electrical Engineering degree from University of Notre Dame and a JD from Franklin Pierce (now University of New Hampshire School of Law) with a concentration in intellectual property.
Tom is a member of the AIPLA, IEEE and Association of Corporate Patent Counsel (ACPC).
