John M. Pollack is a partner in the New York office of Schulte Roth & Zabel, where he practices in the areas of public and private mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, recapitalizations and tender/exchange offers. His clients include private investment funds, as well as U.S. and foreign publicly traded companies. He recently represented Cerberus Capital Management LP, in its $3 billion stock purchase and related tender offer transaction with SUPERVALU, Inc. involving its Albertson’s banners and LNR in its $1.05 billion sale to Starwood Property Trust. He also represented Charming Shoppes Inc. in its merger with Ascena Retail Group Inc., a transaction named the 2012 “North America Corporate Deal of the Year” by Global M&A Network and the 2012 “Corporate/Strategic Acquisition Deal of the Year” by The M&A Advisor, and DynCorp International Inc. in its merger with an affiliate of Cerberus, a transaction selected by The Deal as one of 2010’s “Private Equity Deals of the Year.”
John is the co-principal author of SRZ’s Large Market and Middle Market PE Buyer/Public Target M&A Deal Studies, which detail and compare the notable trends and themes in recent mergers and acquisitions involving private equity buyers and public company targets in the large market and middle market sectors. He also recently co-authored “Top 10 Considerations When Selling Your Company to a PE Firm” for Boardmember.com Insights.
John is one of Law360’s Rising Stars (top attorneys under 40) of 2013 for private equity. He graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University and The George Washington Law School, the latter bestowing upon him High Honors, Order of the Coif and an award for Highest Overall Proficiency in Securities Law.
