“Private Equity” was a term most Americans were unfamiliar with until Mitt Romney ran for President. Even today, most people do not really understand what PE is all about. The fact is, however, that if you are an accredited investor (that is, you earn more than $200,000 ($300,000 if married) a year or who have at least $1 million in assets (not including the equity they have in their home), you need to know because investing in PE is something you should at least consider.
