Robert W. Deprez is a senior financial and operating executive who has successfully led middle market companies as a CEO, CFO and owner. He has served interim CEO, CFO and CRO, and led organizations through leadership and financial transitions. He has experience leading companies through strong growth periods, turnarounds and process realignments. His broad experience allows him to adapt easily to company dynamics.
Mr. Deprez has a track record of focusing companies on generating greater profits and producing measurable results in a short period of time. He has experience leading companies through out-of-court restructurings and recapitalizations and has produced results in as little as six months.
Mr. Deprez has substantial M&A and transaction experience. He founded and ran Arbor Point Capital Holdings, a middle market buyout firm. Some of the highlights include completing two platform acquisitions and two add-on acquisitions of under-performing family-owned businesses. One of the platform acquisitions involved a section 363 asset purchase that was completed in just 45 days. As CEO he built self directed senior leadership teams and the business were later sold with management teams in place. As an investment banker and a principal, he has refinanced bank lines, raised capital and sold businesses. He also has worked with family-owned, PE-owned and ESOP-owned businesses.
Mr. Deprez is a leading authority on “unplanned and emergency succession.” He advises and leads companies shocked by the death, illness or incapacitation of its CEO or owner. He is a certified grief specialist trained through the Grief Recovery Institute and is uniquely qualified to advise companies through the critical 60-90 days following the owner’s loss. The death of the CEO or owner can have far-reaching effects that complicate all aspects of a company’s operation. Deprez understands the emotional dynamics affecting the employees, business partners, and the family. He works effectively with the CEO and the Board to mitigate loss of focus and prevent a decline in enterprise value.
Mr. Deprez has had the good fortune in working in more than 15 different industries including manufacturing, oil field services, environmental, oil refining, capital equipment, machining, electronics, contraction, plastics, engineering, professional consulting, printing, finance, SAS, distribution, steel, consumer products and more. This wealth of cross-functional industry experience allows him to work in companies with varied product and service lines with multiple business models. He has worked in companies ranging in size from $5 million to over $400 million in revenues.
Education, Association and Community Involvement
Robert Deprez has a BS in engineering from Purdue University and a MBA in finance and business policy from the University of Chicago. He has certifications as a certified public accountant (CPA), a professional engineer (PE), and a certified turnaround professional (CTP).
Deprez serves on boards of middle market companies and on the board of Victories for Men, a nonprofit group based in Chicago. He speaks regularly to many business groups about strategies to improve business performance and has taught turnaround strategies and techniques for the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals.
