Adam J. Russ is a Member in Gordon Arata Montgomery Barnett’s Houston office, where he litigates cases in state and federal courts throughout Texas and Ohio. Adam relocated to Texas in December 2018 after serving for thirteen years as a commercial litigation associate and partner for a nationally ranked, full-service firm of more than sixty attorneys in Cleveland, Ohio.

Throughout his career, Adam has helped individuals and businesses of various sizes solve their most challenging problems, whether inside the courtroom or working to avoid it. He has comprehensive experience in complex contract disputes, consumer protection, creditors’ rights, employment and various statutory and tort-related claims across healthcare, banking, financial services, insurance, retail, construction, transportation, and manufacturing industries. Adam also has significant appellate experience, including numerous successful oral arguments.

Having tried cases to verdict, Adam understands the heavy burden and expense of trials. Clients have come to value his practical and pragmatic solutions, including developing nuanced procedural and technical defenses to achieve dismissal and summary judgment. Responsiveness, persistence, and command of the case at hand are hallmarks of his practice.Adam was been named as an Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Star in the area of Business Litigation from 2012-2019 and a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2020.

Adam received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2005 and graduated from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business in 2002 with a B.B.A. in Finance and Business Economics, magna cum laude, and minors in Accounting and Politics, Philosophy & Economics.

In the years since graduation, Adam has actively served his alma mater. He serves as a regular instructor in Notre Dame Law School’s Intensive Trial Advocacy program. At the local level, Adam has served as Program Chair of the Universal Notre Dame Night celebration for the Notre Dame Club of Cleveland and the Notre Dame Club of Houston.

For more than a decade, Adam has mentored students through several organizations including his law firms, Notre Dame Law School, and the Federal Bar Association-Northern Ohio Chapter. His commitment to pro bono work is also noteworthy. He was actively engaged for many years in the Volunteer Lawyers Program of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Adam regularly volunteered for its Brief Advice and Referral Clinics and handled numerous Supplemental Security Income hearings and appeals for children and their families.

Well-versed on how the law constantly evolves, Adam frequently presents on changing legal issues affecting the hospitality and retail, manufacturing, and construction industries.
