John F. Sweeney
John Sweeney is executive vice president, Retirement and Investing Strategies for Personal Investing (PI), a unit of Fidelity Investments, a leading provider of financial products and services to more than 20 million individuals, institutions and financial intermediaries.
Previously, Sweeney served as head of Planning and Advisory Services, where he was responsible for Portfolio Advisory Services, Fidelity’s $100 billion discretionary managed account business, and for the development of planning and guidance solutions including guidance tools, estate planning and the advisor referral business. He was also responsible for Fidelity’s Personal Trust business and currently sits on the board and the audit committee of Fidelity Personal Trust Company.
Sweeney also sits on the Board of Governors of the Money Management Institute. Previously, he was senior vice president, Mutual Fund Product Management where he was responsible for product management, marketing and new product development for the 190 Fidelity retail mutual funds. He also managed Fidelity’s FundsNetwork business, overseeing the distribution and servicing of the 4,500 mutual funds sold through the retail, advisor, correspondent and institutional retirement.
Sweeney joined Fidelity in 1998 as a director of Strategic New Business Development. Previously he worked at American Express in New York, and he began his career in advertising and direct marketing.
